Home for Wayward Girls’ about rising above abuse

“…a hopeful story about a woman who experienced horrors in the one place that should have been her solace … She somehow is able to not only leave but rise above what happened and do good by helping others.” —Associated Press

“Bradley debuts with a stirring account of a teenage girl’s escape from her abusive foster parents…” —Publishers Weekly

On Writing…

Marcia Bradley is a writer, editor, teacher, and writing coach. She urges writers to seize their words. Take a chance. Don’t delay. This can be your moment.

Her advice to writers is to slow down and hurry up, which may seem at odds. But it’s not. Just as you can do two things at once, writers are able to both deepen their stories and ready them to present to the literary world.

Marcia knows that she has learned incredible things from great teachers. Ideas that work, simple words that guide our writing practicum. A good cup of medium roast coffee helps, too!

On Second Lives…

“I moved from Los Angeles to New York to attend graduate school at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville.

How many of us dream of returning to our younger selves, to that which we still hold inside our hearts? I certainly did and experienced creativity, renewal, and teachers who believe in uplifting every student’s story.

I was changed by my time at Sarah Lawrence and every single day of my life is better because of all they helped me become.”

On Meeting Others…

Marcia reading at Community of Writers in Olympic Valley, CA near Lake Tahoe. What a week of writing, coaching, and sharing! An amazing retreat each year for writers. Here she is reading one of her motherly takes on her daughters, cell phones, and Instagram.
